Meet our board

Pension Corporation is governed by a board of directors that oversees our work. The College, Municipal, Public Service and Teachers' pension plan boards each directly appoint two members to the board of directors – a plan member representative and a plan employer representative.

Chan-Seng Lee

Chair

Chan-Seng was appointed to the board of directors by the Public Service Pension Board of Trustees. Chan-Seng is Vice President, Finance and Administration with Infrastructure BC Inc., a crown corporation that supports the public sector by providing leadership in the procurement of complex capital projects. Chan-Seng is responsible for finance, information technology, human resources and administration for Infrastructure BC.

Chan-Seng has over a decade of experience in finance, taxation, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory reporting, information technology, human resources and administration, and corporate governance. Chan-Seng holds a bachelor of commerce degree in Finance from the University of British Columbia and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation

Elizabeth Baverstock

Vice Chair

Elizabeth was appointed to the board in 2019 by the Teachers’ Pension Board of Trustees. Liz is president of the Richmond Teachers' Association (RTA). Prior to her work with the RTA, Liz was a chemistry and science teacher for 20 years in the Richmond School District. She was appointed to the Teachers’ Pension Board of Trustees in January 2018 by the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation.

Cameron McRobb

Cameron McRobb

Board Member

Cameron McRobb was appointed to the board in January 2012 by the British Columbia General Employees' Union (BCGEU). He has 10 years' experience as an Okanagan College bargaining unit chair and six years as chair of the BCGEU Provincial Instructors Bargaining Council.

Cameron is an instructor in the Motor Vehicle Trades Program at Okanagan College in Kelowna and an ASE-certified master automotive technician. He has also completed the Foundations of Trust Management Standards and Advanced Trust Management Standards programs.

 

Gary Yee

Board Member

Gary was appointed to the board in 2015 by the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees. He has been a national representative for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) since 1997. Currently, Gary is the pension coordinator and airline coordinator in British Columbia. He is the staff advisor to the CUPE BC Pension Committee, a representative on the Municipal Employees Pension Committee (MEPC) and chair of the Municipal Employee's Pension Advisory Committee. Gary was appointed to the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees in January 2014 by MEPC.

Geraldine Hutchings

Board Member

Geraldine was appointed to the board in 2018 by the College Pension Board of Trustees. She has practiced law since 1988 and is currently legal counsel for the Aboriginal Law and Litigation Group within the Ministry of the Attorney General. Before her appointment to the board, she was an executive of the Law Society of Yukon, and a member and chair of both the Yukon Human Rights Commission and the Yukon Mental Health Review Board. She also worked as an adjudicator under the Canada Labour Code. Geraldine has completed the Advanced Trust Management Standards program. She has been a member of the College Pension Board of Trustees since March 2012.

Cheryl Eason

Board Member

Cheryl was appointed to the board in June 2018 by the provincial government. Cheryl is currently vice-president and chief financial officer at Royal Roads University, a position she has occupied since 2017.

A professional chartered accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in both public and private sectors, Cheryl holds a retirement plans associate designation (RPA), a master of business administration (MBA) and a diploma in management consulting (DMC).

Previously, Cheryl was chief financial officer at California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) from 2012 to 2017. Before joining CalPERS, Cheryl was vice-president, financial and plan board services at BC Pension Corporation from 2009 to 2012.

Harpinder Sandhu

Board Member

Harpinder Sandhu is a research representative for CUPE—the Canadian Union of Public Employees—with a focus on pension and benefits. He has been a board trustee for the BC Public Service Pension Plan since 2015. He is the investment chair for the BC Municipal Pension Plan with over $70 billion total assets under management.

Harpinder has an interest in the importance of civic awareness and the longevity of public institutions. As part of his pension and governance work, he was keynote speaker to numerous conferences including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. His proactive approach to responsible investment is demonstrated as a committee chair of the UN-sponsored Principles for Responsible Investment (Western North America Chapter). He is a founding member of the labour-sponsored Canadian Capital Stewardship Network.

Harpinder has over a decade of real estate valuation experience for the provincial government. His expertise with residential, commercial, industrial and redevelopment land provides a solid background for public property guardianship. He has co-authored two major policy papers on housing affordability, key in producing provincial housing legislation.

An alumnus of Simon Fraser University, Harpinder holds BA degrees in geography and economics, focused on international trade, finance, sustainable urban development and public policy. He earned the ICD.D designation after completing the Rotman Directors Education Program from the University of Toronto.
